Stardew Valley: How To Cultivate Honey

Author : Owen Update : Jan 21,2025

This Stardew Valley guide focuses on honey production, a frequently overlooked yet highly profitable artisanal product. This guide covers everything from building bee houses to maximizing honey yield and utilizing honey in crafting and gifting. Updated January 9, 2025, to reflect version 1.6 updates.

Bee House Construction

Bee House

Honey production begins with the Bee House, unlocked at Farming Level 3. Each requires:

  • 40 Wood
  • 8 Coal
  • 1 Iron Bar
  • 1 Maple Syrup

Alternatively, obtain a Bee House by completing the Fall Crops Bundle or as a Prize Counter reward.

Place Bee Houses outdoors (farm, forest, quarry) for honey production every 3-4 days (excluding winter). Ginger Island allows year-round production. Relocate by hitting with an axe or pickaxe; existing honey drops upon moving. Bee Houses are unproductive in the Greenhouse.

Honey Types and Flower Influence

Honey and Flowers

Without nearby flowers (within five tiles), Bee Houses produce Wild Honey (100g, 140g with Artisan). Nearby flowers (including those in Garden Pots) enhance honey type and value. Harvesting flowers before honey collection reverts production to Wild Honey.

The Artisan profession (Farming Level 10) boosts artisan goods by 40%.

Honey Type Base Sell Price Artisan Sell Price
Tulip Honey 160g 224g
Blue Jazz Honey 200g 280g
Sunflower Honey 260g 364g
Summer Spangle Honey 280g 392g
Poppy Honey 380g 532g
Fairy Rose Honey 680g 952g

Wild Seed flowers (Sweet Peas, Daffodils) yield only Wild Honey.

Honey Uses

High-value honeys are best sold directly. Wild Honey and cheaper varieties have other uses:

Mead: Use Honey in a Keg to create Mead. Aging in a Cask increases quality and value.

  • Normal: 200g (280g with Artisan)
  • Silver: 250g (350g)
  • Gold: 300g (420g)
  • Iridium: 400g (560g)

Honey type doesn't affect Mead value; use Wild Honey for maximum profit.

Crafting: Combine Honey, Hardwood, and Fiber to craft a Warp Totem: Farm (Farming Level 8).

Community Center: Honey completes the Pantry's Artisan Bundle and appears in Fish Pond quests.

Gifting: Honey is a well-liked gift for most villagers (except Maru and Sebastian). Mead is also popular (avoid Penny, Sebastian, and children). Gifting Honey
