Star Wars Outlaws: A Tribute to Hondo Ohnaka's Legacy
Today marks the exciting release of the first story expansion for Star Wars Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune, available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The driving force behind this new DLC? None other than the beloved Weequay pirate, Hondo Ohnaka, who has charmed fans in the Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.
Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, shared with IGN the inspiration behind the expansion. "We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner explained. He highlighted how the narrative explores Kay's journey into leadership, with Hondo acting as a potential mentor, sparking intriguing dynamics within the storyline.
A Pirate’s Fortune introduces players to new adventures involving the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League, which can provide Kay with upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Additionally, a new blaster capability, Shock, enhances gameplay, offering players fresh tactical options.
In other news, Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for this platform, he assured fans that more details would be revealed in the future. "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later," he teased. Potential enhancements could include utilizing the Switch 2's innovative controllers as a mouse and exploring new GameChat capabilities.
