Star Wars KOTOR Remake Canceled?
The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, remains shrouded in uncertainty. Recent claims suggest the project may have been indefinitely halted, dashing the hopes of many fans. This disheartening news comes from Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a key figure in the Syphon Filter series.
Smith, via his X account, alleges that development on the SW: KotOR Remake has completely ceased, contradicting Saber Interactive's 2024 statement that work was progressing. He further claims that some team members have been reassigned, while others have unfortunately been laid off. Should this information be verified, it would represent a devastating setback for those eagerly awaiting this iconic RPG's remake.
It's important to acknowledge Smith's track record. He accurately predicted a Housemarque game announcement, lending credibility to his claims. However, past inaccuracies regarding the release dates of Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima (presumably a typo for Ghost of Tsushima) temper any immediate acceptance of his statements.
As of now, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not publicly responded to these allegations, leaving the future of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake uncertain and fans anxiously awaiting official clarification.
