Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Gets Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!

Aspyr has unveiled a surprising addition to the upcoming Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles re-release for modern consoles: the playable character, Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a staff in action-packed gameplay. This isn't the only new addition; nine other playable characters have been revealed, with more to come.

The 2000 original Jedi Power Battles featured iconic characters and locations from Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Aspyr's updated version aims to capture that nostalgia while adding fresh content. Beyond lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, players will control a significantly expanded roster. Jar Jar Binks, however, is certainly one of the most unexpected additions.

The recently released trailer offers a glimpse of Jar Jar's gameplay, showing him battling enemies with his signature staff. While some may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber, the clumsy Gungan sticks to his signature weapon and chaotic charm. Jar Jar will be playable from launch day, January 23rd, and pre-orders are open now.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character list for this re-release. In addition to Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard, nine other new characters have been revealed, with more promised. This diverse selection includes fan favorites like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, as well as several droid types: Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid.

With the launch of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new characters firsthand. Aspyr's experience with other classic Star Wars game updates (such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter) hopefully ensures Jedi Power Battles will deliver a satisfying and nostalgic experience for long-time fans.
