"New Need For Speed Release Delayed"
EA's Executive Vice President, Vince Zampella, recently provided an update regarding the current state of the Need for Speed series. Released over two years ago, NFS Unbound has been the latest entry, and since its debut, EA has remained silent on new developments within the franchise.
This silence isn’t coincidental; Criterion Games is presently concentrating its efforts on the upcoming installment of Battlefield. As Zampella mentioned, EA's primary focus lies with this new Battlefield title, which is being crafted with substantial consideration of player feedback. The project involves collaboration across four distinct studios, signaling EA's full commitment to its success.
Zampella had earlier noted that the team aims to sidestep the missteps of Battlefield 2042, which faced backlash upon release due to controversial gameplay choices. This player-centric approach extends to potential new content for NFS Unbound as well.
It appears plausible that EA will revisit Need for Speed post the launch and early support phases of Battlefield. While this delay might not be ideal for fans craving immediate updates, it could prove beneficial in allowing time for nostalgia to build while addressing past criticisms.
In the meantime, don’t anticipate any Need for Speed announcements in the near future.
