The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, where our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling, or rather, barely managing, the current state of affairs.

The beloved animated series unveiled a new trailer that initially tricked viewers into thinking it was a sneak peek at a gripping new drama. With its intense editing and dramatic music, the trailer created an ominous atmosphere... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley make a surprising appearance. Sitting on her bed, with a Wicked movie poster in the background, Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he quips, breaking the tension and revealing the true nature of the teaser.

South Park Season 27 premieres Wednesday, July 9th.

After this humorous interlude, the trailer shifts back to high-octane action, hinting at several significant and topical events in the upcoming season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a cameo by P. Diddy, and another conflict with Canada — a plotline fans of the show, especially those who've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, might have been anticipating.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), and 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park reached its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first aired on Comedy Central in 1997 to widespread acclaim. As fans eagerly await the new season, the show continues to captivate audiences with its sharp wit and fearless commentary on contemporary issues.
