The Sims Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
The Sims franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary with a spectacular lineup of in-game events, a marathon livestream, and the highly anticipated return of two classic titles! Let's dive into the details of this momentous occasion.
A Silver Anniversary Celebration: Events and Freebies
The Sims is marking its quarter-century milestone with a plethora of in-game rewards, a star-studded livestream showcasing the vibrant Simmer community, and the triumphant comeback of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 on PC.
Kevin Gibson, The Sims Production Director, expressed gratitude to the dedicated players who have been instrumental to the franchise's enduring success, stating in an Xbox Wire interview, "Our incredible players have shown us that no one does life like The Sims, and we wanted to celebrate this journey we have been on together." He highlighted the game's impact across generations and its connection with millions worldwide. The anniversary celebration is a heartfelt thank you to the entire Simmer community.
The Return of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2
The biggest news? Simmers can revisit the origins of their favorite life simulation game! The Sims 1 and The Sims 2, including all their DLC, are now available for purchase on Steam and the EA store, individually or as a special Birthday Bundle. This marks a significant event, as these titles had been unavailable for purchase for nearly a decade. EA has addressed the compatibility issues with modern systems, making these nostalgic experiences accessible to a new generation of players.
In-Game Festivities: The Sims 4 and The Sims FreePlay
The Sims 4's "Blast From The Past" event introduces iconic items from earlier games, including retro furniture, clothing, and décor. Over four weeks, new additions will be released, such as neon inflatable chairs, a three-tiered cake, a light-up dance floor, and even wired phones.
The Sims FreePlay also joins the celebration with a Birthday Update featuring new Live Events ("The One with the Coffee Shop" and "Reality Island"), a new velour tracksuit, 25 days of daily gifts, and a Social Town museum showcasing The Sims' history.
A 25-Hour Livestream Extravaganza

Notable guests included Doja Cat, Latto, Trixie Mattel and Katya, Dan & Phil, Plumbella, Angelo & Lexy, Ironmouse, and many more. Missed the live event?
