Silksong "Playable" Version Showcased at Australian Museum, Release Date Still Unknown
Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture
For fans eagerly awaiting the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, exciting news has emerged. The long-anticipated game will feature a playable demo at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This marks a significant milestone for the game, which has been shrouded in mystery since its initial announcement in 2019. The playable version at ACMI promises to be a far cry from the E3 2019 demo, which was more of a "proof of concept" than a full experience.

Available at Game Worlds in Australia
The ACMI is set to host an exhibition called Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. This exhibition will showcase a variety of titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience exclusive custom builds, original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects from these games.
Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, co-curators of ACMI, expressed their excitement about including Silksong in the exhibit. In an interview with IGN, they stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."
Given the scarcity of information about Silksong since its announcement, the Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI is poised to end the long wait for more details. The co-curators elaborated on what fans can expect, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
While the event in Australia might hint at a release window for Silksong, no official release date has been confirmed. The game did make a brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct, with a release window set for 2025. Given that the exhibit runs until 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch sometime in September or within the exhibit's timeframe.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. To stay updated on the latest news about the game, be sure to check out our article below!
