Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking a range of reactions, including from Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's updated appearance.

In a humorous video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initial, widely criticized live-action design to the much-improved version released months later.

IGN provided the first exclusive look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018. The initial feedback was mixed, with fans particularly vocal about the character's teeth, physique, small eyes, and human-like fingers.

In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler decided to revise the controversial design, committing to a more authentic portrayal. The redesign was much better received by fans and critics alike.

While the response to Shrek's new look hasn't been as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action debut, Sonic's playful reaction has certainly entertained his followers.

"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one commenter noted, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.

PlayThe fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was first announced in 2016, but progress stalled until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023. Alongside this, there are plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has shifted Shrek 5's release date to December 23, 2026, and moved the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, into its former slot.
