The surprise appearance of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in *The Mandalorian* is etched in Star Wars history as one of its most thrilling moments. Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka Tano, shared an amusing anecdote during Star Wars Celebration about how she was kept in the dark about Hamill's cameo until he actually stepped onto the set of *The Book of Boba Fett*.

Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the masterminds behind the series, cleverly used Jedi Master Plo Koon as a decoy to maintain secrecy around Luke's cameo. This tactic inadvertently led to one of the biggest surprises in Dawson's career, as she was not clued into the real plan.

To safeguard against leaks, the scripts mentioned Plo Koon instead of Luke Skywalker. Dawson, like any dedicated Star Wars fan, was puzzled by Plo Koon's supposed return, especially since his demise was well-documented in *Revenge of the Sith*. "I was like... I don't know... but people disappear and then they come back, so maybe it's possible?" she recounted. The surprise was complete when Mark Hamill appeared on set, humorously dismissing the Plo Koon ruse with, "Plo Koon? That wouldn't even make sense!"

Filoni and Favreau expressed their regret for not informing Dawson earlier, with Filoni admitting, "I think we assumed you'd gotten told the right information," and Favreau adding, "That was bad on us!" They emphasized the importance of keeping two major secrets on the show: Grogu's reveal at the end of the first episode and Luke Skywalker's appearance at the end of season two. Despite leaks plaguing other aspects of production, they managed to keep these surprises under wraps. Unfortunately, this meant Dawson was left out of the loop.

Dawson took it in stride, jokingly saying, "I love it, they know I can't be trusted."
