Rocksteady Seeks Game Director for New Batman Title

Author : Leo Update : Mar 13,2025

Rocksteady Studios, the acclaimed developer behind the Batman: Arkham series, is searching for a Game Director for its next big project. A job listing posted by Warner Bros. Discovery on February 17th outlines the responsibilities, highlighting the need for expertise in crafting "high-quality game design." This includes core gameplay mechanics, player progression systems, combat design, and mission structure. The ideal candidate will possess experience across diverse genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat games.

This job description has fueled speculation about a potential return to the Batman universe, a franchise synonymous with Rocksteady's success. The Batman: Arkham trilogy strongly aligns with the listed requirements, unlike their recent release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which prioritized gunplay over hand-to-hand combat.

As Rocksteady is in the early stages of recruitment, the project is likely still in its conceptual phase. Industry insider Jason Schreier suggests that, should a new single-player Batman game materialize, it's several years away.

Rocksteady's latest title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, launched on February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game received mixed reception, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and 4.2/10 (users).

Previous reports hinted at a possible return to the Batman franchise, with rumors suggesting a project inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
