Legendary Sumi-E in Assassin’s Creed Shadows are unique ancient paintings of animals that you can create using either Naoe or Yasuke. These paintings are not marked on the map, making them a bit challenging to find. When you're near one, a painting icon will appear on your compass and map. Approach stealthily by crouching, and when you're close enough, hold L2/LT to complete the painting. There are five legendary Sumi-E, each available during specific seasons and times of day.

Legendary Tanuki – Summer, Daytime

To find the Legendary Tanuki Sumi-E, head to the Omi region during summer daytime. Navigate to the Shimmering Fields, specifically the Shigaraki Hamlet. Once there, you'll see Tanuki statues around you. Follow the path uphill to a clearing where the legendary Tanuki will be. Approach carefully and complete your painting.

Legendary Grey Heron – Winter, Daytime

The Grey Heron can be found in Wakasa at the Lake Suigetsu area during winter daytime. Head to the cluster of islands west of Lake Suigetsu. Approach on foot to avoid scaring the heron away. Locate the painting opportunity, crouch, and move in slowly to complete your Sumi-E.

Legendary Macaque – All Seasons, Nighttime

Travel to the Yamashiro region and find the Little Leaf Glade sub-region. Locate the Sarumaru Shrine near the mountains. Visit at night, climb the stairs to the top, and you'll find the three wise monkeys. Capture them in your Sumi-E.

Legendary Silver Fox – Autumn, Nighttime

The legendary Silver Fox Sumi-E is located in the Kii region during autumn nighttime. Navigate to the Nakahechi Route sub-region and find the Kamimisu Inari Shrine. Look for the fox statues at the temple, and you'll spot the Silver Fox at the cliff's edge. Approach and paint this majestic creature.

Legendary Deer – Spring, Nighttime

Head to the Yamato region and the Yoshino sub-region during spring nighttime. Fast-travel to the Mountain Blossom Temple to the west, then follow the path east to reach the Sakura Meadows. Climb the slopes to a clearing where you'll find the legendary Deer. Complete your Sumi-E collection with this serene painting.

Keep in mind that even if you're at the right place at the right time, the animals might not always spawn. If that happens, try fast-traveling to a nearby location and returning to see if they appear. With perseverance, you'll soon complete your collection.
