"New Predator Unveiled in 'Badlands' Trailer: Unlike Any Before"
The excitement is palpable as the teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi action sequel, Predator: Badlands, has just surfaced online. In the tantalizing sneak peek, we're introduced to Elle Fanning's character, seemingly a resident of a perilous future on a remote planet. But what sets this film apart is the intriguing twist on the iconic Predator, who might not be the typical antagonist we're used to. Instead, the teaser hints that this Predator could be the protagonist, with the tagline, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain," setting the stage for a thrilling narrative.
The trailer also teases potential connections to the Alien universe, sparking speculation that Badlands might be setting the stage for a new Aliens vs Predator movie. Fans have noticed Elle Fanning's eyes mimicking the Weyland Yutani reboot effect seen in Alien: Romulus, hinting that her character could be a synthetic. Additionally, a glimpse of the Weyland Yutani logo—the notorious megacorporation from the Alien franchise—is spotted on a damaged vehicle, further fueling the crossover theories.
Predator: Badlands was first announced in February 2024, with its release date confirmed in October of the same year. The trailer made its exclusive debut at CinemaCon earlier this month, and now, fans everywhere can get a first look at what's in store. During CinemaCon, 20th Century Studios also unveiled the official synopsis: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."
Elle Fanning herself shared some insights at CinemaCon, revealing, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!"
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, renowned for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, Predator: Badlands is co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. The film is slated to hit theaters on November 7, 2025, promising a fresh and exciting take on the beloved franchise.
