Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn

Author : Scarlett Update : Mar 16,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s trading system is getting a major overhaul. The controversial Trade Tokens are being completely removed, replaced by a new currency: Shinedust. You’ll earn Shinedust by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens can be converted to Shinedust.

Further changes are planned, including adjustments to Shinedust usage for obtaining flair. A future update will also introduce an in-game function for sharing cards you wish to trade.

The initial trading system faced criticism due to its reliance on hard-to-obtain Trade Tokens and restrictive trading limitations. These changes aim to address those concerns. However, the update implementing these changes isn't expected until autumn. While Pokémon TCG Pocket acknowledges these issues, the pace of the fixes may be slower than some players would prefer.
