Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, now's the time to stock up on Poké Balls and Berries.
Pokémon GO consistently delivers exciting monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the ever-popular weekly Spotlight Hours, each focusing on a specific Pokémon with shiny possibilities. Here's the lowdown on the upcoming event.
Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour
Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week features both Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, doubling your chances for shiny catches. Both Pokémon offer significant combat advantages, particularly when extra damage is needed.
Prepare for a double catch! Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense, as you'll be catching twice the Pokémon. These items boost your shiny and evolution odds. Also, ensure ample Pokémon storage space – you'll be catching a lot!
Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region): This Electric-type Pokémon is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch. However, it's weak against Ground-type Pokémon (160% damage) and resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (5.81 DPS, 40.62 TDO), boosted in Rainy weather. A blue shiny variant exists.
Hisuian Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region): Also an Electric-type, Hisuian Voltorb shares Voltorb's Pokedex number, trade and transfer options, and evolution requirements (50 candies for Hisuian Electrode). Catch rewards are identical (3 candies, 100 Stardust), and its stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack) mirror Voltorb's. Its type matchups differ slightly; it takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water-type moves (63% damage) and other Electric-type moves (39% damage). The best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt (5.39 DPS, 37.60 TDO), enhanced in Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather. Its shiny form boasts a black body instead of orange.
