Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Shortage Addressed by Pokemon Company

The Pokémon Company has addressed the widespread shortages of its upcoming Prismatic Evolutions trading card game expansion, assuring fans that reprints are underway. This marks the first official acknowledgment of the issue, which has caused significant frustration among collectors.

Initially announced in November 2024 with pre-orders shortly following, Prismatic Evolutions was slated for a January 17th, 2025 international release. However, global shortages, including in the US, quickly emerged. Following considerable fan outcry on social media, The Pokémon Company released a statement acknowledging the supply issues and stating they are working at maximum capacity to produce more cards.

Reprint Timeline and Distribution:

Reprint production is complete, and the company aims to distribute these to licensed retailers as quickly as possible. While no firm date was given, the statement emphasized their commitment to addressing the shortage. The cause of the shortage was attributed to "high demand," avoiding specifics such as the role of scalpers.

Future Prismatic Evolutions Releases:

Beyond the reprints, The Pokémon Company confirmed additional Prismatic Evolutions products are planned for release in the coming months, as previously hinted at in the November announcement. These include:

  • Mini Tin and Surprise Box (February 7th, 2025)
  • Booster Bundle (March 7th, 2025)
  • Accessory Pouch Special Collection (April 25th, 2025)
  • Super-Premium Collection (May 16th, 2025)
  • Premium Figure Collection (September 26th, 2025)

Furthermore, players of the Pokémon TCG Live mobile game can obtain Prismatic Evolutions cards via the Battle Pass starting January 16th, 2025.

The Pokémon Company expressed understanding for the fans' disappointment and reiterated their commitment to resolving the supply issues.
