Pokémon TCG Pocket's card art has captivated players, but recently discovered details reveal hidden connections to the Game Boy games. Reddit user asch_win initiated the investigation, highlighting Spearow's card art. The background subtly depicts Celadon City's Department Store and Route 16, mirroring Spearow's in-game location.

This intentional referencing of classic Pokémon games by developers Creatures Inc. and DeNA extends beyond Spearow. jteede discovered further connections: a Diglett card near Vermillion City, a Haunter card by Lavender Town's tower, and more. asch_win also uncovered location references within Supporter cards.

Many card illustrations depict Pokémon in fantastical settings, some even mirroring real-world collectible cards. However, others, like those mentioned above, are exclusive to Pokémon TCG Pocket, serving as cleverly hidden Easter eggs.

The community is actively searching for more references. Discoveries include the S.S. Anne on a Gyarados card and a trio of Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards referencing a seaside Snorlax encounter from FireRed and LeafGreen.

The game currently features four booster expansion sets, with the latest being Mythical Island. Further expansions and events like Wonder Pick will undoubtedly introduce more cards and potentially more hidden references. Players are encouraged to remain vigilant in their search for these Easter eggs as Creatures and DeNA continue to expand the game's card roster. Currently, a Wonder Pick event featuring Charmander and Squirtle is underway. The ongoing debate about whether pack choice impacts card rarity also continues to intrigue the community.
