PlayStation Logo Pops Up on Work-in-Progress Starfield Creation, Sparking PS5 Release Speculation
Speculation about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which was later removed, fueling speculation that the sci-fi game, currently exclusive to PC and Xbox, may soon be available on PS5.
They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The appearance of the logo has sparked discussions about whether Bethesda is planning a major content update or even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's potential PS5 release. Following the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion, there has been little news about Starfield in recent months. However, Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, is expected to host another summer showcase, which could be the perfect opportunity to reveal more about Starfield's future.
Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amidst growing frustration from players over a lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard expressed the studio's goal to release annual story expansions for "hopefully a very long time."

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, stating: “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.”
In January, Microsoft's gaming head Phil Spencer did not rule out the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Reports from as early as March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was later confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, following its debut on PC and Xbox Series X and S. While Starfield has not yet been officially confirmed for PS5, Spencer's comments have kept the possibility alive.
Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves by Rare, Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks, and Grounded and Pentiment by Obsidian. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles, among other platforms, and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 by Playground Games is also slated for a PS5 release. There are even rumors that Microsoft might bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly aimed at increasing revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He stated in August of the previous year, "We run a business. It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do. So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us."
Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently juggling multiple projects including Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.
