Pebbles vs. Herring: Best Choice in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?

Author : Alexander Update : Mar 27,2025

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the choice between Pebbles and Herring as your trusty steed is an important one for Henry. If you're wondering which horse to choose, let's dive into the details and help you make an informed decision.

How To Find Pebbles in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

You’ll reunite with Pebbles when you visit the Semine estate before the wedding between Lord Semine and Agnes. She's waiting at the stables, but you'll need to purchase her if you want to ride her during your quest with Jan Semine before the wedding, known as "The Jaunt." Pebbles is not just any horse; she's Henry’s trusted steed and has been his companion, much like Mutt, who you can also find through side quests.

How To Receive Herring in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

After completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls," you have the option to take Herring as your new horse. If you haven’t picked up Pebbles or another horse by this point, Herring comes to you courtesy of Otto von Bergow. However, if you already have another horse and decide you don't want Herring, you can sell him to nomad traders through Kabat for 300 Groschen.

At first glance, Herring might seem like the better choice due to his higher base stats. However, this can be misleading. Each horse unlocks a perk after being ridden a certain distance, which boosts its stats. This means that horses with initially better stats don't necessarily remain superior throughout the game.

Pebbles, despite not having the highest stats even after her boost, emerges as the best choice for several reasons. You can acquire her for a lower price compared to many other horses, and her stat boost is unlocked after riding just 35 kilometers with her. In contrast, Herring requires 50 kilometers of travel to unlock his perk. Pebbles' boosted stats include:

  • 217 stamina
  • 353 capacity
  • 53 speed
  • 12 courage

These stats, combined with her affordability and the fact that you can unlock her perk faster, make Pebbles a great bargain. Moreover, the sentimental value she holds, having been with Henry before the game and journeying alongside him, adds to her appeal.

When deciding between Pebbles and Herring in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, Pebbles is the clear winner. With a lot of traveling ahead, you need a reliable steed, and Pebbles fits the bill perfectly.
