Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Rituals

Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE leagues, detailing how to initiate events, understand mechanics, utilize the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, conquer the Pinnacle boss, and maximize rewards from the unique Tribute and Favour system.

Understanding Rituals and Altars

On the Atlas map, Ritual Altar locations are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. You can guarantee a Ritual encounter by using a Ritual Precursor Tablet in a completed Lost Tower.

Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms, life-draining blood pools).

Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large enemy wave will spawn within a designated circle; remaining within this area and defeating all enemies completes the Ritual. Leaving the circle prematurely ends the event without rewards. A map is considered complete after all Rituals are successfully finished.

The Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists

'An Audience With The King,' a unique Ritual currency item, unlocks a fight with The King in the Mists, located in The Crux Of Nothingness. Use this currency in your Atlas Realmgate.

The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror the campaign version (found in Act 1, Cruel difficulty, Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section offering modifiers to enhance rewards, reduce Tribute requirements, and increase unique currency drop rates. Access it via the Atlas map's top-left button; the Ritual tree is located in the bottom right.

The red, five-pronged Ritual tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each King in the Mists victory grants 2 skill points, requiring increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Prioritize these Notable nodes: 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' for optimal rewards. Then consider 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for increased chances of valuable Omens and "An Audience With The King."

Maximizing Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completed Rituals reward Tribute, a temporary currency used to purchase randomized items (Favours). More completed Altars increase Tribute and unlock more Favour options, ranging from basic Magic items and currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively a Favour reward.

Omens: Powerful Consumable Items

Omens are exceptionally rare and powerful consumable items that modify the effects of other currency items. Examples include Omens of Annulment (restricting removed modifiers) and Omens of Alchemy (controlling added modifiers). They are highly sought after for crafting or trading.

Beyond the Tribute and Favour system, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
