Oscar Isaac Exits Star Wars Event; MCU Fans Speculate Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday
Hold onto your seats, Marvel fans, because the latest buzz suggests that Oscar Isaac might be reprising his role as Moon Knight in the upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday. Yes, you read that right—Avengers: Doomsday. This surprising speculation gained traction over the weekend when Star Wars Celebration announced that Isaac would no longer be attending their convention in Japan due to a shift in his production schedule.
Back in February, Isaac's scheduled appearance at Star Wars Celebration had fans buzzing with anticipation for a potential return as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars universe. Following Daisy Ridley's announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023 of her involvement in a new film, expectations were high that Isaac might follow suit. However, the sudden change in his plans has led fans to connect the dots to Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently filming in London.
Social media erupted with speculation:

Despite the excitement, it's important to note that this remains a theory. Isaac was not included in the initial cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday. Yet, hope persists as Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige hinted during a CinemaCon video call that not all cast members were disclosed in the livestream. "We revealed many, not all," he stated, leaving room for surprises.
Isaac previously starred as Moon Knight in a six-episode series released in 2022, but there has been no official word on a sequel. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, promising a grand ensemble of returning heroes and new faces as highlighted in the epic livestream.
Meanwhile, MCU enthusiasts are also intrigued by Robert Downey Jr.'s recent Doctor Doom-themed invitation to his 60th birthday party, fueling further speculation about the film's plot.
Last month's Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal was dominated by veteran X-Men actors, including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. This lineup confirms a significant presence of the X-Men in the movie. Grammer, who portrayed Beast in the Fox X-Men series, debuted in the MCU through The Marvels' post-credits scene. Stewart, known for his role as Charles Xavier/Professor X, made a brief MCU appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. McKellen, who played Magneto, along with Cumming (Nightcrawler), Romijn (Mystique), and Marsden (Cyclops), are yet to make their MCU debut. This raises an intriguing question: is Avengers: Doomsday secretly an Avengers vs. X-Men movie?
