Nintendo Unveils New Console: LEGO Gameboy
Nintendo's Latest Collaboration: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time creating a LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release. The announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has, however, sparked considerable online speculation about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Many users playfully interpreted the news as a delayed Switch 2 reveal, with comments such as, "Thanks for finally revealing the new console," and "At this rate, switch 2 for Lego would be out before the system reveal."
While Nintendo remains tight-lipped on Switch 2 specifics, President Furukawa's May 7, 2024 statement promised a reveal before the end of their fiscal year (March). Further details on the LEGO Game Boy's price point are expected in the coming weeks or months.
Expanding on Past Successes
This isn't Nintendo's first foray into the LEGO world. Previous collaborations have featured iconic characters and sets from popular franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
Last May 2024 saw the release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set depicting the Great Deku Tree from both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, complete with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. This set retails for $299.99 USD.
Following closely in June 2024, a Super Mario World LEGO set featuring Mario riding Yoshi was released. This unique set uses a crank mechanism to animate Yoshi's leg movement, offering a fun, interactive experience for $129.99 USD.
