Nintendo Switch 2 Image Reveals C Button on Joy-Con
Nintendo has officially confirmed that the mysterious new button on the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con is indeed the C button, quelling rumors and speculation. This revelation came via the newly announced and released Nintendo Today! app, which features an image on its App Store and Google Play listings that clearly shows the C on the button.
The new button was first unveiled alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, though initial images of the Joy-Con did not display any letter on the button. Prior rumors suggested it was the "C" button, and now Nintendo has confirmed those reports.

Speculation abounds regarding the purpose of the C button. Some enthusiasts believe it might be used for "casting" the Switch 2 to a TV wirelessly or for screen sharing. Others speculate that it could switch the Joy-Con's functionality, such as into a mouse mode. There's also talk about its potential relation to new group or voice chat features.
Nintendo has scheduled a Switch 2 Direct for April 2, where we hope to learn more about the C button and other features. In the meantime, here's what we know for certain:
- The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, likely not before June based on hands-on event scheduling.
- The new console is larger than the original Switch, with bigger Joy-Con that appear capable of functioning as a mouse.
- It features two USB-C ports, one at the top and one at the bottom, unlike the original Switch which had only one.
- The Switch 2 is backward compatible, capable of playing both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games as well as Switch 2 exclusive titles. However, some Switch games might not be supported or fully compatible.
- A new Mario Kart game is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2.
