The long-awaited details about the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the specs are more impressive than many anticipated. The system supports up to 120fps and can handle 4K resolution when docked, which is a significant upgrade from its predecessor.
During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new console. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, yet maintains the same thickness of 13.9mm. With double the pixels, it supports a 1080p display at up to 120fps in handheld mode. The screen is an LCD type and supports HDR, which enhances visual quality. When docked, it can deliver up to 4K resolution with HDR, promising a stunning gaming experience.
The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are connected via magnets and can be detached by pressing a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, making them more comfortable for horizontal play, while the left and right sticks have also been increased in size. Additionally, this segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 features a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio support for compatible games. It also includes a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, capable of various height adjustments. A top USB port allows for external camera connectivity or charging the system in tabletop mode.
A notable highlight is that the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
