Nintendo Denies Switch 2 Showcase Rumors for American Hardware Brand Genki
Nintendo Responds to Genki's Alleged Switch 2 Showcase
Nintendo has officially denied claims by American accessory maker Genki that they showcased a functional Nintendo Switch 2 prototype at CES 2025. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report that Nintendo stated the images and videos circulating are unofficial. The company explicitly confirmed that it did not provide Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, known for its gaming accessories, including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting a 3D-printed mockup of the Switch 2. They also reportedly shared purported release date information with journalists and attendees. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, further fueling speculation.
This contradicts Nintendo's official silence on the Switch 2's specifics, beyond their previously confirmed backwards compatibility with the original Switch. Nintendo's denial strongly suggests that Genki's claims are unsubstantiated, and the pressure to officially unveil the Switch 2 may be increasing.
