A Coastal Conflict on the Continent

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Coming FebruaryNetflix Tudum, the official Netflix news source, confirms the release of The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep on February 11, 2025. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.

The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk compels a kingdom to seek the aid of a Witcher. Instead of the usual monsters, Geralt faces a unique challenge – battling merpeople.

Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.

Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) pen the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.

A Season 1 Interlude

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Coming FebruaryThe film's timeline slots neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of the live-action series' first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt undertakes a new contract near the coast.

The coastal location suggests a setting between Redania and Temeria. However, based on "A Little Sacrifice," the film may take place in Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval. The extent to which the film adheres to the source material remains to be seen.
