Netflix has officially teamed up with the masterminds behind the acclaimed video game Sifu to transform its compelling narrative into a cinematic experience. The film adaptation, first announced back in 2022, was initially in the hands of Story Kitchen and the game's developer, Sloclap. However, as per the latest scoop from Deadline, the production crew has grown considerably.

Netflix has enlisted the talents of T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his contributions to the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. Although Derek Kolstad, who was initially involved in shaping Sifu's story for the screen, might still have a role, his current involvement remains uncertain.

The project boasts an impressive lineup with Chad Stahelski, the visionary director behind the John Wick saga, and his production outfit, 87Eleven Entertainment, coming on board as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently involved in another eagerly anticipated video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.

Sifu, launched in 2022, swiftly captured the gaming world's attention, amassing over one million sales within just three weeks of its release. The game narrates the tale of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them post-mortem, yet ages them several years each time, the protagonist navigates a perilous journey through a realm teeming with danger and mystery.
