Neil Druckmann: No Promises on The Last of Us Part 3
If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3 video game, I'm afraid I have some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has recently tempered expectations about the possibility of a third installment in the beloved franchise. In a comprehensive interview with Variety focused primarily on *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann addressed the question of a sequel at the end. His response was clear and somewhat disheartening for fans:
"I was waiting for this question," he remarked with a sigh. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."
This statement leaves fans wondering whether to take Druckmann at his word. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's evident that the studio's focus is firmly on this new project, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or perhaps he genuinely feels the story has reached its conclusion. Only time will tell if his stance changes.
For those still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about the number of seasons needed to fully adapt the story of Part 2, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal length to complete the narrative.
