Medabots Survivor brings the classic role-playing franchise to the bullet heaven genre
Medabot Survivors: Bullet-Hell Action for Medabots Fans, but Only in Japan (for now)
Medabot Survivors, a new bullet-hell action game based on the popular robot role-playing franchise, has launched in Japan for iOS and Android devices on February 10th. For those unfamiliar, Medabots enjoyed a surge in popularity following Pokémon's success, though it never achieved the same global recognition in the West. However, in Japan, Medabots remains a significant franchise.
This new title, as noted by Gematsu, sees the series venturing into the popular "Survivors-like" genre. While the genre's roots predate Vampire Survivors, Medabot Survivors' release highlights its growing global appeal. The game's Japan-only release, however, is a disappointment for international fans.
A Survivor's Hope
While many excellent Japanese games may never see a Western release, the success of Medabot Survivors in Japan offers a glimmer of hope. If the game proves popular enough, a global launch could be a possibility.
