How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Anointing isn’t available right away—you’ll need to unlock it later in the game. To do so, you’ll require Distilled Emotions, obtained exclusively from Delirium Maps. These Distilled Emotions function similarly to Blight Oils from the first game, with ten distinct types: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
The most common way to acquire Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a randomized selection upon success. Alternatively, you can obtain them via currency exchange or the trade market.
For those looking to upgrade Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to tool. Combining three of the same type yields a single upgraded version, allowing you greater control over the emotions you collect.
Lastly, if you enjoy a challenge, Simulacrum waves occasionally drop Distilled Emotions. Although less efficient than Delirium Maps, this method provides a thrilling farming experience, albeit at a higher difficulty.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
You can anoint both Waystones and amulets, though additional anointing options may become available during Early Access updates. To anoint an amulet, choose a Distilled Emotion to activate the Instilling window. The emotion selection doesn’t impact the outcome. Place the amulet in the central box, followed by a Distilled Emotion in each of the three bottom slots. The required emotions for the desired anointing ability can be viewed by hovering over a Notable Passive Skill in the Passive Skill Tree and pressing Alt (keyboard) or R3 (controller).

Keep in mind that the skills you choose to anoint depend on your build, and this effect isn’t permanent. Repeating the process replaces the previous anoint with the new one, enabling dynamic adjustments based on your evolving build.
The same procedure applies to Waystones, offering both challenges and enhanced loot opportunities. Note that you cannot anoint corrupted items, regardless of type.
With these tips, you’re all set to elevate your amulets through anointing or embrace the thrill of challenging Waystones in Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2 is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
