The Best ‘Marvel Snap’ Meta Decks – September 2024 Edition
TouchArcade Rating:
This month's Marvel Snap (Free) deck-building guide arrives a little early to compensate for last month's delay. A new season brings fresh challenges, and while the game felt relatively balanced last month, new cards always shake things up. Remember, today's winning deck might be obsolete tomorrow; these are snapshots, not guarantees.
These decks represent top-tier strategies, assuming a complete card collection. I'll share five top-performing decks, plus a couple of more accessible and fun options.
Most Young Avengers cards haven't made a huge impact, though Kate Bishop remains strong, and Marvel Boy boosts 1-cost decks. However, the new Amazing Spider-Man and the Activate ability are game-changers, promising significant meta shifts next month.
Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
Surprisingly, a Kazoo deck leads the pack. The core strategy remains familiar: deploy low-cost cards, then buff them with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides extra buffs, and Gilgamesh thrives in this environment. Kate Bishop offers additional Dazzler support and reduces Mockingbird's cost. A strong performer, but its long-term viability remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Remains Unstoppable, Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer decks persist, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo provides early boosts. Forge enhances Brood's clones, Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw gains strength from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian, proving highly versatile.
Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing Strategy
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype also excels. This deck features cards with Ongoing abilities, amplified by Spectrum's final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is potent, with Luke protecting cards from US Agent. Its ease of play is a plus, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.
Discard Dracula Deck
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, featuring a buffed Moon Knight. Morbius and Dracula are the key cards; successful discarding leaves Apocalypse as your final card, transforming into Mega-Drac. Collector provides additional potential.
Destroy Deck
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
A near-traditional Destroy deck, incorporating the buffed Attuma. The strategy involves destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
Here are two fun decks for players with smaller collections or those seeking variety:
Darkhawk's Return
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
A Darkhawk-centered deck featuring classic combos with Korg and Rockslide. It includes disruptive cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, and cards that trigger discarding, making Stature cost-effective.
Budget Kazar Deck
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly Kazar deck. While less reliable than the top-tier version, it teaches the core combo mechanics, featuring Kazar, Blue Marvel, and Onslaught.
This month's guide concludes here. The new season and potential balance changes will likely reshape the meta by October. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are significant factors. Happy snapping!
