Marvel Rivals Season 1 Mid-Season Update: No Rank Reset

Recent confusion surrounded a potential rank reset in the upcoming Marvel Rivals update. Many live-service games typically reset ranked standings at the start of each season, but Marvel Rivals developer, NetEase Games, initially announced a mid-season reset for Season 1 on February 21st, 2025. This was planned to coincide with the release of two new heroes, The Thing and Human Torch.

However, due to significant negative player feedback, NetEase reversed course. They announced that there would be no mid-season rank reset. Players will retain their existing ranks and scores. To earn new rewards (including a Gold rank costume and Crests of Honor), players simply need to complete 10 competitive matches and meet specific conditions by the end of Season 1.

This decision showcases NetEase's responsiveness to player concerns. While the initial plan made sense given the meta-shifting additions of new heroes, the developer prioritized player enjoyment and adjusted their plans accordingly.

Season 1 Mid-Season Update Details:

Beyond the absence of a rank reset, the mid-season update will introduce The Thing and Human Torch as playable characters. Specific character balance adjustments (buffs and nerfs) haven't been detailed yet.
