$499.99 at Best Buy

Choosing the Switch 2 bundle with *Super Mario Kart World* allows you to save $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind, however, that the console bundle comes with a digital copy of the game, so you won't receive a physical cart or game box. If owning a physical copy is crucial to you, you might consider spending the additional $30 to preorder the standalone game.

Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99

When purchased independently, *Mario Kart World* is priced at $79.99, which is $10 higher than the standard price of AAA PlayStation and Xbox games this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand that the costs of game development have escalated significantly. Hopefully, the expansive nature of *Mario Kart World* justifies the extra expense.

What Is Mario Kart World?

Play

*Mario Kart World* is set to be the most expansive Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world environment reminiscent of the *Forza Horizon* series. In Grand Prix mode, you can transition seamlessly from the end of one track to the start of another after finishing a race.

The game's tracks are dynamically influenced by weather conditions and the time of day, impacting visibility and traction as you race. Players have the freedom to leave the designated tracks and explore "virtually everywhere" within the game world, according to Nintendo. Each race accommodates 24 drivers, surpassing any previous Mario Kart game.

A new mode called Knockout Tour challenges you to race across the entire open world, hitting checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fall behind at any checkpoint, and you're out of the race.

For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you explore the world at your own pace, team up with friends, and even snap photos along the way.

Stay tuned for more details during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview of *Mario Kart World* for more insights.
