Longtime readers may remember our 2019 review of a quirky battle royale game called King of Crabs. Though it didn't fully resonate with our reviewer, the developer is now revisiting the series with the upcoming launch of King of Crabs - Invasion.

Developer Robot Squid is shifting from battle royale inspiration to the RTS genre. Similar to titles like Age of War, King of Crabs - Invasion places you on a linear battlefield against an opponent.

Strategically deploy various units—from standard crab swarms to catapults and mace-wielding crustaceans—to overrun your enemy before they destroy you. With different battlefields and obstacles, victory is more challenging than it seems.

King of Crabs - Invasion clearly transforms the original crustacean chaos into a new genre. For a lighthearted concept like crabs battling to the death, a straightforward yet entertaining RTS feels like a logical progression.

That said, given Cameron’s earlier critique that the initial King of Crabs concept lacked depth, there's some concern that the humor in King of Crabs - Invasion might fade quickly. The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself when the game launches on May 30th.
