Holding On To Marvel’s Wolverine Updates
Insomniac Games recently unveiled their future roadmap, but kept fans on the edge of their seats by staying silent on new developments for Marvel's Wolverine. In a conversation with Variety, Co-Head Chad Dezern explained that the studio is focusing on "great projects with an ambitious roadmap." However, they are not ready to lift the veil on any upcoming releases, including whether Marvel's Wolverine will hit the shelves in 2025.
"As much as we have pent-up excitement, we've got to hold on to it," Dezern emphasized.
Marvel’s Wolverine First Announced in 2021
*Marvel's Wolverine* was first unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a captivating cinematic teaser trailer, signaling its exclusive development for the PlayStation 5.In a 2023 interview with the YouTube group Kinda Funny, Bryan Intihar, Creative Director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine exists within the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man, known as "1048." Although fans hoped for crossover events or joint teasers following the simultaneous announcements at PlayStation Showcase 2021, the only nod so far has been a Wolverine-themed suit named "The Best There Is" in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
In December 2023, Insomniac Games faced a ransomware attack, which led to Marvel's Wolverine development assets and gameplay showcases briefly being exposed to the public.
Insomniac Games Current Projects
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on PC on January 30, 2025, as revealed during New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac has put to rest any speculation about future DLCs for the game, stating there are "no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2." However, the PC version will include all updates from the PS5 release, such as new suits, New Game+, and more. The game will be available in two editions on PC: Standard and Digital Deluxe, which offers exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
