A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four units: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.

This news follows a trend of more 5-star character releases in recent updates, leaving some 4-star units less relevant in the current meta. While some 4-stars, like Moze and Gallagher, have gained popularity, they often require significant Eidolon investment to reach their full potential. Past free selectors in Versions 2.1 and 2.7 helped players acquire these crucial Eidolons.

The leaked selector features characters from the game's 1.0 cycle, including Asta, a character readily available early in the game. This leak supports earlier rumors suggesting a potential slowdown in 4-star character additions, with upcoming releases heavily favoring 5-star units. The anticipated Amphoreus update is expected to introduce eight new 5-star characters, further emphasizing this trend. A rumored Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover could add two more 5-star characters.

The 2.0 cycle only saw four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form), raising concerns about future 4-star selectors having enough new units to offer.
