The much-anticipated game will be available to play at Australia's national museum of screen culture, ACMI, in Melbourne starting September 18, 2025. This opportunity comes as part of the "Game Worlds" exhibition, which will also showcase the game’s intricate design and artistic direction.

Team Cherry, the Adelaide-based studio behind the game, has kept fans on their toes with a vague 2025 release window. Yet, the playable demo at ACMI offers a concrete date for enthusiasts to mark on their calendars. The "Game Worlds" exhibition promises an in-depth look into the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet's movements and attacks, as well as the logic behind the game's challenging boss fights.

ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement, saying, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September.
