For completionists playing Pokemon TCG Pocket, the Promo Card section is usually a satisfyingly short list to complete. However, the enigmatic Promo Card 008 is currently disrupting this peaceful experience.

The Appearance of Promo Card 008

The Promo Card section appeared complete until, around January 2025, a new, unobtainable card, Promo Card 008, materialized in the Promo – A Card Dex. This created a noticeable gap between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009).

While its numbered position suggests it's been in the game's code for some time, it wasn't always visibly displayed as a blank slot. Its recent appearance has left players eager to know how to acquire it.

Unveiling Promo Card 008

Although currently unobtainable, investigating reveals its design. Accessing the "Related Cards" section (visible when viewing cards like Red Card 006 or Pokedex 004) shows a greyed-out version of Promo Card 008. This card depicts an alternate art Pokedex surrounded by Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Clicking the image leads to an information page confirming its unowned status and stating it will be "obtained from a campaign." This phrasing mirrors that of the New Year 2025 Pikachu card (Promo 026), suggesting a promotional giveaway. Unlike cards acquired through missions or Wonder Pick events, which have specific event-related descriptions, this "campaign" acquisition method is unique.

The exact timing and method for obtaining Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Card 008 remain unknown. However, for those seeking a complete collection, hopefully, its release is imminent. In the meantime, the option to hide unowned cards can alleviate the visual frustration of the empty slot.
