Helldivers 2, the cooperative third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony, has seen a notable rise in positive reviews within 48 hours. Players are celebrating the game’s "liberation from Sony's restrictions." On Reddit, user Good_Policy352 earned over 14,000 upvotes after encouraging the community to update negative reviews and welcome newcomers in a post titled "MAJOR ORDER: Change Negative Review After Region Unlock."

The region lock dispute started over a year ago when policy updates affected PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts and limited access in certain areas. Sony attempted to enforce a PSN requirement for continuing to play purchased games but faced strong opposition from gaming communities.

In response to widespread dissatisfaction, Helldivers 2 players retaliated, leaving more than 200,000 overwhelmingly negative reviews on the game’s Steam page before Sony reversed its decision. Despite this, PlayStation titles were still removed from PC digital storefronts in some regions and refunds were issued.

After months of community campaigns and protests, Sony has quietly revoked regional bans. Helldivers 2 was not the only game to benefit from this policy change. According to Steam Database updates on June 13, other major PlayStation releases like God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 also had regional restrictions removed, expanding their potential player base on Steam.

Discussions continue over whether Stellar Blade's success impacted Sony's choice, especially given developer Shift Up’s reported resistance. Still, Sony has not issued an official statement, and currently, only the initial titles are confirmed to be affected with no signs of further additions.
