Take-Two Interactive Reiterates Fall 2025 Release for Grand Theft Auto 6

Despite industry speculation, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, maintains its projected fall 2025 release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation came during their third-quarter 2024 financial results announcement.

While acknowledging the inherent risk of delays, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the fall 2025 timeframe, stating the company "feels really good about it." He emphasized Rockstar's dedication to quality, highlighting the game's high anticipation and the company's commitment to avoiding premature declarations of success.

Zelnick remained tight-lipped regarding the game's development progress, offering only general comments about the internal and external excitement surrounding GTA 6. The upcoming release has generated significant buzz, influencing the strategies of competitors. EA CEO Andrew Wilson, for example, alluded to GTA 6's potential impact on Battlefield's release schedule.

The absence of a second trailer, over a year after the first, continues to fuel fan speculation. Meanwhile, other GTA 6 related discussions abound, including an ex-Rockstar developer's prediction about a potential delay announcement in May 2025, uncertainty about a PC release, and debates on the PS5 Pro's potential 60fps performance.

Take-Two also highlighted the continued success of its other titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 has surpassed 210 million units sold worldwide, while GTA Online enjoyed a strong quarter boosted by the Agents of Sabotage update. Red Dead Redemption 2 has exceeded 70 million copies sold and is experiencing record concurrent players on Steam.

Take-Two's optimistic outlook extends beyond GTA 6, encompassing a busy 2025 release schedule including Civilization 7, PGA Tour 2K25, WWE 2K25, Mafia: The Old Country, and Borderlands 4. The company anticipates record-breaking net bookings in fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
