Gandhi DLC for Civ 7 Might Launch Soon

While Gandhi did not make the cut for the initial roster of leaders in Civ 7, the door remains open for his comeback through downloadable content (DLC). There is Still Hope for Gandhi and Other Civ Leaders

In an insightful interview with IGN on February 13, 2025, Civ 7's lead designer, Ed Beach, shed light on the possibility of Gandhi's return. "There is still hope for Gandhi as a leader in Civ 7," Beach stated, suggesting that while it may take some time, fans could see Gandhi reintroduced via a future DLC.

During the interview, Beach elaborated on the decision-making process behind the selection of civilizations and leaders for Civ 7. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," he assured. Addressing the absence of notable civilizations like Great Britain or England, Beach explained, "There's a lot of consternation right now about where's Great Britain or England, why aren't they in our game?"

The decision to exclude certain civilizations, including Britain and India, was driven by the need to balance the game with both familiar and fresh content. "There're just too many popular choices and we always want to have a few fresh ones that sound really new and exciting to people," Beach noted. He emphasized that while some civilizations are left out initially, the team continuously evaluates opportunities to reintroduce beloved leaders and civilizations. "So things are getting left behind, but we always are looking at the big picture, when we're going to bring leaders or civs into the fold. So there's hope for Gandhi, yet."

Given the extensive history of DLC releases in Civ 6, it's reasonable to anticipate that Gandhi will eventually find his way back into Civ 7. However, the exact timeline for his return remains uncertain, keeping fans eagerly awaiting further announcements from Firaxis Games.
