How to Unlock Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria is an annual event, much like other seasonal town festivities. If you miss it one year due to other in-game commitments or simply forget, don't worry—you can participate the following year.

The festival takes place on the 10th day of the Winter season. Depending on your current position in the seasonal cycle, this gives you plenty of time to focus on buying and caring for your animals. Ensuring they are in top condition is key to winning the grand prize at the festival.

How to Win Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The highlight of the Animal Festival is the main contest where you can enter up to two of your farm-raised animals to compete for prizes. These can include one small animal (like chickens, ducks, or rabbits) and one large animal (such as cows, alpacas, or sheep). Remember, only fully grown adults are eligible for the contest.

How to Enter the Animal Festival Contest

To participate, make your way to the festival grounds in the town center and speak with Josephine at the front counter. She will direct you to the two booths behind her where you can register your animals.

Josephine also offers valuable tips on how to boost your score. Firstly, the more hearts your animal has, the better your score will be. You can increase an animal's hearts by petting or picking them up, feeding them well, and letting them enjoy sunny days outdoors.

Secondly, the rarity of your animal’s coat color can enhance your score. Animals with unique colors like pink or blue, especially if well-cared for, will give you a competitive edge.

When you're ready, talk to Terithia at the left booth to enter your large animals. A menu will appear showing which of your animals qualify. Then, speak to Landen at the right booth to enter your small animals.

Once you've made your selections, return to Josephine and inform her you're ready to ‘start the judging’.

A cutscene will follow, announcing the winners of the small animal category first, from third place to first. Winning first place above Hayden's chicken, Henrietta, will make you the champion of this category.

The large animal category results come next. If you surpass Hayden's cow, Sunshine, and take first place, you'll be declared the winner of this bracket.

After the judging, you'll receive a list of prizes based on your performance. Note that winning first place in your first year can be challenging, as it requires significant time to max out your animals' heart gauges and complete necessary ranch-related story quests and upgrades to unlock rare animals with unique coat styles.

Consistent care and upgrading your farm to its fullest potential each year will significantly increase your chances of claiming the gold crown at the Animal Festival.
