FFVII Remake Part 3 'Well Underway,' Says Director
Hamaguchi, the game director, assures fans that development on the sequel is progressing well, though he requests patience as further details will be revealed later.
2024 proved a triumphant year for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, garnering numerous awards and global acclaim. The development team now aims to broaden the game's fanbase with the third installment, promising unique challenges.
Hamaguchi also highlighted Grand Theft Auto VI as a notable game this year, expressing admiration for Rockstar Games and acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.
Specifics regarding the third game remain undisclosed, but Hamaguchi offers reassurance that development is proceeding smoothly. Considering the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago, this is a significant undertaking. However, he promises a truly unique player experience.
Despite this, the May 2024 launch of Final Fantasy XVI fell short of projected sales targets, with specific figures yet to be released. Similarly, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth sales also underperformed initial forecasts. Square Enix, however, maintains that neither title's sales constitute a complete failure, and that Final Fantasy XVI still has ample time (18 months) to meet its sales goals.
