This Is the Epic Games Store Free Game for January 16

Escape Academy is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, marking the fourth free title of 2025. With a strong OpenCritic score of 80 and an 88% recommendation rate, it's poised to be the highest-rated free game offered on the EGS so far this year.

This escape-room-style puzzle game, developed by Coin Crew Games, challenges players to train as "escape room masters" within the Academy. Originally released in July 2022 for PC and consoles, it's available for free on the Epic Games Store from January 16th to 23rd, replacing Turmoil.

A Previous Freebie, Now for a Full Week

While previously offered as a free mystery game on January 1st, 2024, this giveaway marks the first time Escape Academy will be free for a full week on the EGS. This is especially convenient for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as the game is leaving the service on January 15th after an 18-month run.
