Mastering The Elder Scrolls Online's (ESO) Expansions and DLCs: A Chronological Guide

After a decade of ESO content, keeping track of expansions and DLCs can be tricky. This guide chronologically lists all content, helping you prepare for the Gold Road Chapter.

ESO's DLC journey began with Imperial City (August 2015). The annual Chapter model started with Morrowind (2017), though the release structure has evolved since. Here's the complete list:

  1. Imperial City (August 2015): PvP zone, White Gold Tower, Imperial City Prison.
  2. Orsinium (November 2015): Major zone expansion adding Wrothgar.
  3. Thieves Guild (March 2016): New skill line, Hew's Bane zone, and faction story.
  4. Dark Brotherhood (May 2016): New skill line, Gold Coast zone, and faction story.
  5. Shadows of the Hist (August 2016): Dungeon DLC (Ruins of Mazzatun and Cradle of Shadows).
  6. Morrowind (June 2017): First Chapter expansion introducing the Warden class, Vvardenfell zone, and Halls of Fabrication Trial.
  7. Horns of the Reach (August 2017): Dungeon DLC (Bloodroot Forge and Falkreath Hold).
  8. Clockwork City (October 2017): Zone DLC including the Asylum Sanctorium Trial.
  9. Dragon Bones (February 2018): Dungeon DLC (Scalecaller Peak and Fang Lair).
  10. Summerset (June 2018): Chapter expansion with Summerset zone, Psijic Order skill line, and Cloudrest Trial.
  11. Wolfhunter (August 2018): Dungeon DLC (Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices).
  12. Murkmire (October 2018): Zone DLC adding Murkmire.
  13. Wrathstone (February 2019): Dungeon DLC (Depths of Malatar and Frostvault).
  14. Elsweyr (May 2019): Chapter expansion initiating a year-long story arc, adding Northern Elsweyr, the Necromancer class, and Sunspire Trial.
  15. Scalebreaker (August 2019): Dungeon DLC (Lair of Maarselok and Moongrave Fane).
  16. Dragonhold (October 2019): Zone DLC concluding the Year of the Dragon, adding Southern Elsweyr.
  17. Harrowstorm (February 2020): Dungeon DLC (Icereach and Unhallowed Grave).
  18. Greymoor (May 2020): Chapter expansion adding Western Skyrim, Scrying skill line, and Kyne's Aegis Trial.
  19. Stonethorn (August 2020): Dungeon DLC (Stone Garden and Castle Thorn).
  20. Markarth (November 2020): Zone DLC adding The Reach, concluding the Skyrim arc.
  21. Flames of Ambition (March 2021): Dungeon DLC (The Cauldron and Black Drake Villa).
  22. Blackwood (June 2021): Chapter expansion adding Blackwood zone, a Companions system, and Rockgrove Trial.
  23. Waking Flame (August 2021): Dungeon DLC (Red Petal Bastion and The Dread Cellar).
  24. Deadlands (November 2021): Zone DLC adding Deadlands and Fargrave, concluding Gates of Oblivion.
  25. Ascending Tide (March 2022): Dungeon DLC (Coral Aerie and Shipwright's Regret).
  26. High Isle (June 2022): Chapter expansion adding High Isle, Tales of Tribute card game, and Dreadsail Reef dungeon.
  27. Lost Depths (August 2022): Dungeon DLC (Graven Deep and Earthen Root Enclave).
  28. Firesong (November 2022): Zone DLC adding Galen, concluding a year's storyline.
  29. Scribes of Fate (March 2023): Dungeon DLC (Scrivener's Hall and Bal Sunnar).
  30. Necrom (June 2023): Chapter expansion adding Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha, introducing the Arcanist class and Sanity's Edge Trial.
  31. Infinite Archive (November 2023): Free DLC with an unlimited round-based dungeon.
  32. Scions of Ithelia (March 2024): Dungeon DLC (Bedlam Veil and Oathsworn Pit).
  33. Gold Road (June 2024): Chapter expansion continuing Necrom's story and adding Spell Crafting.

While many expansions are grouped thematically, completing Necrom and its associated dungeon DLC is sufficient for understanding Gold Road.
