Elden Ring: Two New Classes Added in Nintendo Switch 2 Tarnished Edition
Elden Ring is set to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 with the exciting "Tarnished Edition." This release promises to bring a host of new features to FromSoftware's sprawling adventure, including new character classes and appearances for the beloved spirit horse, Torrent.
During the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6, Famitsu reported on the unveiling of two new classes for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. These classes, as translated by RPG Site, are the "Knight of Ides" and "Heavy Armored Knight." While details remain sparse beyond their names and appearances, these classes will come with two of the four new armor sets included in the edition, with the remaining two sets obtainable in-game. Additionally, the event teased the introduction of new weapons and skills, adding more depth to the gameplay.
For fans of Torrent, the spirit horse, there's good news as well. The Tarnished Edition will feature three new appearances for Torrent. This content, along with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, will be part of the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. Moreover, FromSoftware has confirmed that these additions will also be available on other platforms through the "Tarnished Pack DLC," which will be offered at a budget-friendly price, according to RPG Site.
The introduction of new classes is a smart move, especially considering that many players will likely start fresh on the Switch 2. This offers a chance to experiment with different playstyles, which could be particularly appealing to those who have already explored Elden Ring on other platforms.
Elden Ring's success cannot be overstated, having surpassed 30 million sales worldwide. This monumental achievement is a testament to the game's widespread appeal, and its arrival on the Switch 2 is poised to further boost its popularity.
While no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, both are slated to launch sometime in 2025. Fans of the series have much to look forward to as they await these exciting new additions to the Elden Ring universe.
