In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll primarily take on the role of the Wanderer, embarking on a quest to restore peace to the land. Throughout your journey, you'll encounter numerous choices within the main storyline, each of which will influence your experience. Regardless of the paths you choose, you'll often be accompanied by powerful companions who will join you on the battlefield.

These companions are not just sidekicks; they are formidable warriors in their own right. While they typically follow you around the battlefield, you also have the opportunity to take direct control of them at key moments. Playing as these companions can be significantly more effective than sticking with the Wanderer, even with his upgrades. Let's dive into how you can switch characters and harness their power.

How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Switching to play as your companion is only possible during battles where a companion is by your side. Before the battle, during the war council, you'll see an option to select your companion. You can opt to go into battle alone, but this choice will prevent you from switching to any companions once the fight begins.

Once the battle starts, keep an eye on the bottom right of your screen. You'll notice your companion's health bar positioned just above your own. Below this health bar, there's a blue bar similar to your Musou bar. This blue bar fills up as you engage in combat through various actions such as:

• Parrying attacks
• Perfect dodging
• Assaulting Officers
• Using Weapon Arts

Virtually any combat action will contribute to filling this bar, albeit at a slower pace.

When the blue bar reaches its maximum, a "Change Character" button will appear next to it. To switch characters, press and hold this button for about a second. Depending on your platform, this action is performed with the View Button on Xbox, the C key on PC, or the Touchpad on PlayStation.

Switching to another character is best done during intense battles, as companions are exceptionally powerful. Once you take control, you'll have roughly a minute to wreak havoc. The blue bar that allowed you to switch will now start to drain, indicating the time you have left in control of your new character.

Upon switching, your new character will leap into the fight with a powerful attack, so aim at an enemy to maximize impact. Your companion will come equipped with their own full Bravery meter and a range of combat arts, all of which are highly effective. They also have their own Musou bar and health bar, both of which are fully charged upon switching, allowing you to unleash their special attack and devastate your foes.
