Dynasty Warriors: Origins - How To Unlock & Use The Horse
Mastering Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide to Horses
Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. However, traversing large battlefields quickly often necessitates a mount. Horses are summonable in both the overworld and during battles, even allowing for mounted combat. This guide covers acquiring, leveling up, and switching horses.
Obtaining Your First Steed
Your initial horse is a free gift! After completing the second major battle, "Test of Zheng Fei," a merchant appears northeast of Wan Castle (before the camp). He's positioned beside his horse. Simply speak to him to receive your mount; it equips automatically. Summon your horse using the left joystick (console) or the 'V' key (keyboard).
Leveling Up Your Equine Companion
Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions (indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon), even if you don't actively ride it. XP is awarded for missions and main story battles, but not skirmishes. The XP earned depends on battle duration and your horse's usage (including charging enemies). Leveling unlocks unique buffs for each horse.
Switching Horses
While your first horse is automatically equipped, others are available. Access the "Battle Preparation" menu; the horse selection is the last option on the left. Each horse boasts unique perks, with some offering superior speed and capabilities. Consider switching to utilize these advantages. New horses are obtained by maximizing the peace level of a region; the reward (a new horse) will be found at a nearby waypoint.
