Dragon Age: Veilguard Adds Free DLC Weapon

Author : Natalie Update : Nov 03,2025

BioWare has largely shifted focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, though the remaining development team quietly released a small weapon DLC pack for the RPG.

The Dragon Age community was surprised when Steam updated the game's page to include free additional content - the Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer. While modest, this unexpected update comes as welcome news after EA previously indicated limited future support for the title. Following January's fifth patch announcement that promised only critical bug fixes moving forward, any new content feels like an unexpected gift, however small.

Curiously, the Rook's Weapons Appearances bundle has limited availability - only for current owners and those purchasing the PC version before April 8, 2025. While the bundle lacks an official description, community investigations revealed it provides Watchful weapon skins accessible through the Rook's in-game quarters. Its availability on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remains uncertain.

"Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever," one Steam review notes, "they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!"

"It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content," a Reddit user commented. "I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to generally favorable reviews in October but EA reports it failed to "resonate with a broad enough audience." Key team members announced their departure from BioWare in late January amid company-wide restructuring that saw many staff either laid off or reassigned. EA confirmed to IGN that the studio had redirected its "full focus" to the next Mass Effect project.

The game joined PlayStation Plus March 2025 offerings just four months post-launch. No further content plans have been disclosed.
