Dragon Age The Veilguard game director leaves BioWare, players expect studio to shut down

Reports suggest upheaval at BioWare, casting a shadow over the successful launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Online speculation, fueled by sources described as "agenda fighters," initially claimed both the closure of BioWare Edmonton and the departure of The Veilguard's game director.

Eurogamer journalists corroborate at least part of this, confirming the impending departure of Corinne Boucher in the coming weeks. Boucher, an 18-year EA veteran, has primarily worked on The Sims franchise.

However, Eurogamer clarifies that the rumored closure of BioWare Edmonton remains purely speculative.

Critical reception of The Veilguard is mixed. While some hail it as a triumphant return to form for BioWare, others view it as a solid, albeit unremarkable, RPG. At the time of writing, Metacritic shows no negative reviews.

Many reviewers praise The Veilguard's engaging and challenging gameplay, particularly at higher difficulty settings. Yet, differing opinions persist. VGC, for example, criticizes the gameplay as feeling dated and lacking innovation.
